I have questions

BETH THOMAS

RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST

Hi Reader,

... and I'm hoping you might have answers.

I'm sitting here in my half-packed house (yes, still moving — the chaos continues) and I've been thinking about you.

Not in a creepy way (really not my style), but in that coach-y way where I wonder how what I'm sharing actually lands with you.

I'm going through this massive shift right now.

Not just the physical move—weird enough—but something deeper.

'm getting really clear on what I want to focus on—burnout, perfectionism, self-care, and that beast-from-hell called internalised ableism.

These are the topics that light me up, the ones I could talk about for hours over coffee.

But here's what I'm curious about: What resonates most with YOU?

When you read my emails, which stories make you think "Yes, she gets it!"

Which topics have you screenshot to save for later?

What makes you forward an email to a friend who "needs to read this"?

I could keep writing about what I think you need to hear, but that feels a bit like shouting into the void.

And you know that no one hears when you scream in space.

So, after years of feeling unheard in other areas of my life, I'm done with one-sided conversations.

So I'm asking: What do you want from me?

Maybe it's those messy Monday morning stories where I admit I've spent three hours organizing my sock drawer instead of doing actual work.

Or the deeper dives into why we're so hard on ourselves.

Perhaps it's the practical stuff — those tiny shifts that actually make a difference.

Or a bit of everything.I'm genuinely curious.

Hit reply and tell me.

What's been most helpful?

What would you love to see more of?

What questions are you sitting with that you wish someone would address?

I'm giving myself permission to be in this exploratory phase while my life settles into its new rhythm.

So I put together a survey here.

Your input would mean the world to me as I figure out how to show up most usefully for this community we're building together.

Thanks for being patient with me during this transition.

And thanks in advance for any thoughts you're willing to share.

With very best & brightest love.

Beth

P.S. Wish me luck with the final stretch of this move. My ADHD brain is simultaneously excited about the fresh start and completely overwhelmed by the logistics. Sound familiar?

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hi Reader, "... I mean, I always like listening to your words..." That's what my partner said when I told him I was writing about our recent goodbye to Tinkerbell, our family dog. He knows me well enough to predict I'd find meaning in even the hardest moments. These past few weeks have been a whirlwind. Moving house, adjusting to new routines, reminding myself to rest. Then over the weekend, we said goodbye to Tinkerbell. This isn't a sympathy post – she...

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hi Reader It's Friday afternoon and there's a chance your brain feels like it's been through a blender this week. Mine certainly has. I spent Tuesday morning staring at my to-do list, paralysed by the number of things demanding my attention. Everything seemed urgent but nothing felt important all at the same time. The coffee went cold in the time it took me to just pick one thing and start. Then I remembered something I tell my clients all the time: your...

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hi Reader, Here we go again. My heart is doing that thing again – like I've been overdoing the coffee (though let's be honest, I probably have). It's that mix of terror and excitement you feel when you're about to do something that feels really, really important. I've been quietly working on something for months now. Top secret stuff. After years of watching brilliant people – including myself – struggle to navigate a world that wasn't built with our...
