What Tinkerbell told me about letting go

Hi Reader,

"... I mean, I always like listening to your words..."

That's what my partner said when I told him I was writing about our recent goodbye to Tinkerbell, our family dog.

He knows me well enough to predict I'd find meaning in even the hardest moments.

These past few weeks have been a whirlwind.

Moving house, adjusting to new routines, reminding myself to rest.

Then over the weekend, we said goodbye to Tinkerbell.

This isn't a sympathy post – she lived the most amazing dog life imaginable.

She became more of a community dog than a family one by the end, visiting workplaces, having friends and family members fight over who got to look after her.

Her passing gave me space to reflect, as endings often do.

The graceful art of letting go.

She taught us how to find joy in what's right in front of us, how to be present, and the pure happiness that comes from being with people who love you back.

I'm sharing this because maybe you can relate.

Maybe you're also navigating your own version of letting go – of old patterns, expectations, or ways of being that no longer serve you.

Take a moment to reflect.

Are you working toward things that bring you joy?

Living in alignment with what actually matters to you?

If not, get curious about what could shift.

And if you're feeling stuck, unable to climb over your wall of awful, I want you to know that my new program launching in September is still looking for testers.

I've been quietly building something I believe will make a real difference – a safe digital space where you can find answers and work through challenges at your own pace.

People are already joining the waitlist because they want to understand their executive functions better, learn why emotional dysregulation hits so hard, or discover reflection methods that actually work for their brain.

If that sounds like something you need, hit reply and I'll add you to the waitlist too.

Sometimes the most graceful thing we can do is admit we need support in learning how to let go (or even that there is something to let go of!).

Best and brightest love,

Beth x

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hi Reader It's Friday afternoon and there's a chance your brain feels like it's been through a blender this week. Mine certainly has. I spent Tuesday morning staring at my to-do list, paralysed by the number of things demanding my attention. Everything seemed urgent but nothing felt important all at the same time. The coffee went cold in the time it took me to just pick one thing and start. Then I remembered something I tell my clients all the time: your...

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hi Reader, ... and I'm hoping you might have answers. I'm sitting here in my half-packed house (yes, still moving β€” the chaos continues) and I've been thinking about you. Not in a creepy way (really not my style), but in that coach-y way where I wonder how what I'm sharing actually lands with you. I'm going through this massive shift right now. Not just the physical moveβ€”weird enoughβ€”but something deeper. 'm getting really clear on what I want to focus...

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hi Reader, Here we go again. My heart is doing that thing again – like I've been overdoing the coffee (though let's be honest, I probably have). It's that mix of terror and excitement you feel when you're about to do something that feels really, really important. I've been quietly working on something for months now. Top secret stuff. After years of watching brilliant people – including myself – struggle to navigate a world that wasn't built with our...
